Just Seeds Returns!
My bedroom walls are covered with posters by artists like Josh MacPhee, Bec Young, Dylan Miner, Meredith Stern, and Icky A. They each have a distinct style, but they all have a similar, hand made, passionate feel to them that I find utterly compelling.
All of these artists and more work together in a group called Just Seeds. Just Seeds is a collective of radical artists, and they have their new website up at www.justseeds.org! Their store used to be managed by the Clamor Infoshop, but when we closed, Just Seeds closed too. Now they’re reborn, with a better site all of their own.
Living vicariously through others – Aimee Allison’s Blog
So, one of my many projects is to book tours for other people. I do it because I felt a need for this in my community of radicals, and because I knew I was capable and that I would enjoy it. So, that’s where Aid & Abet Booking came from.
As I posted before, right now I’m working with Aimee Allison and David Solnit, who are touring with their book Army of None: Strategies to Counter Military Recruitment and Build a Better World.
The sucky part of booking tours for people is that I am basically arranging fun adventures that I don’t get to go on. For some reason, I have felt that particularly with this tour, as I get dispatches from Aimee and David about all the amazing people they are meeting all over the country who are doing grassroots counter-recruitment work.
Fortunately, Aimee has a blog about the tour! She’s been describing a bunch of their events and meetings, and posting photos, including individuals they meet. Read the rest of this entry »
Call for Submissions: Enough
This sounds like a great new project, and I look forward to seeing it come to fruition. Economics, money, stability and how we support ourselves has long been a focus of my work and I hope to contribute something to this. I’m familiar with and respect Dean Spade’s work (great interview in Clamor 35, though unfortunately it’s not online right now) and know this will be interesting.

Please, please consider contributing to this project! We’re hoping to collect a bunch of stuff by November 15…but it’s a website, so obviously if you want to write something but can’t get it in by then let us know and we’ll work something out.
Call for Submissions: Enough
What is the difference between financial security and hoarding wealth?
What are some ways we can share resources to support community and movement-building?
How can we talk to each other about personal money issues and politics without guilt, shame, and judgment?
What does a politics of wealth redistribution look like in the day-to-day, and what are the obstacles to developing conversations about this in political communities we belong to?

I have a crush on Mona Caron’s artwork
Tonight I attended a talk at CounterPulse by local muralist Mona Caron. CounterPulse, itself, is an amazing community gem – a performance and art space that often hosts lectures on politics, art, the city, history, nature, and other exciting topics. They do an entire reading series, and their schedule is here.
Mona is amazing. I’ve never met her or talked to her, but I’ve seen her work and it has aways moved me. The first piece I ever saw was the Market Street Railway Mural, at Market and Church.
Honest, I don’t have a grudge against American Apparel
Seriously, I don’t. Okay, so American Apparel threatened to sue Clamor and it was certainly a stressful few weeks for me. I mean, I still think that they suck, but I have been known to wear their clothes. But, since it got so much media attention, a lot of people send me news stories and web stuff about AA all the time.
But, I have to say, this article from The Onion, “14 American Apparel Models Freed in Daring Midnight Raid” pretty much takes the cake. Thanks to Robert for passing that along.
Did you know Freeganism was a new movement?
In a September 7 feature in In These Times, Sergio Burns writes: “Not willing to accept that the world has to be polarized between the haves and have-nots, a new sect of activists calling themselves freegans (a contraction of the words “free” and “vegan”) have set out to change the way we think and act. There are around 400 to 500 freegans in New York City alone, and growing communities of like-minded individuals across the Western World who are living outside of and challenging the established social order.” You can read “A Freegan World” here.
Great Opportunity to visit Pittsburgh
Thanks to Daniel Tucker for passing this along —->
